Our “BukaBuku” Book Donation event had been an amazing success!
Thanks to the generosity of the donors, just within 2 weeks, we have had over 694 books donated to orphanages & communities in need!
Despite of knowing that books are very important for children, we also learned that the previous study from Susan Neuman and David Dickinson* shows that in low-income neighbourhoods, there is just 1 developmentally appropriate book for every 300 children, that’s why we are very grateful of enthusiasm we received from all the donors.
Your donated books have helped us make a difference in supporting children for their education and brighter future. The kids really enjoyed and appreciated the books!
“Makasih mbak yang cantik, mas ganteng semoga embak dan mas dapet pahala dan makasih juga bukunya—Thank you sister and brother may you get good blessing and thank you for the books” said Reza (8) as he cheerfully read the donated books that we put in Angkringan Uyee Local Book Community.
Our book donation had to be adjusted so that we could keep our recipients, volunteers, and donors as safe as possible during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Donors were sending their donations through packages, which minimizing the virus spread potency. After we sort the books categories and packed the books, our team disinfect the package right before we deliver it to the orphanages and local book community.
We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and willingness to adjust to the new way of running this year’s book donation.
